Well, as you can probably guess by the title of this blog, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that series, which I started in August last year, is being cancelled with no plans to return to it. I'm sure some of you will be wondering why. Well there are many reasons why I have decided to cancel the series which was going to consist of two seasons of chapters written by myself.

The first reason is that I have been very busy formulating the future of this wiki since late December last year. This unfortunately has been cutting majorly into the time that I was originally going to spend developing The Provost Brothers series. I mean, if you look a…

For many years, we have been receiving numerous complaints from communities and their administrators due to the fact that they cannot select individual or multiple revisions to delete from pages the same way they can restore them.

Well over the next few weeks we are delighted to announce the upcoming release of a brand new extension called SelectiveDelete. In addition to the abilities to delete pages with the (delete) permission, and restore individual and multiple revisions, or entire pages with the (undelete) permission, (selectivedelete) will allow users to delete individual or multiple revisions. But only on communities that have the extension…

This blog was originally going to be focussed solely on announcing that Gadgets are now enabled on C.Syde's Wiki. But since I was very late in writing this blog, since I've been very busy with other things on this wiki, as well as other things on other wikis, I have decided to mention a couple of other things that are important to note.

The first thing I'd like to announce, which I've already mentioned is that Gadgets are now on this wiki. Even though they've been on this wiki for nearly a month, I feel that having a significant impact on this wiki, it's important to mention them for the benefits of the users that may or may not want to enable them.

Gadgets is an extension that allows users to pick JavaScript or CSS based "gadgets" that othe…

Hey everyone. here, with my very first blog on Community Central. So some of you may be aware of C.Syde's Wiki. But I wanted to promote it because I noticed I've never made any attempts to promote it via blog, or indeed anywhere on Community Central. The said wiki has been around since September 2014, and has gained many members passing through, though very few, if any, have stayed long-term, editing wise. I hope you like this blog.

C.Syde's Wiki originated as a test wiki known as C.Syde's Test Wiki back in September 2014. It was founded because I needed somewhere so that I could develop my skills as an administrator, to help me to meet the requirements to get the support I needed to become an administrator on some wikis that I edit on, no…

It's been half a month since the last blog? It can't be! Man time goes so fast sometimes doesn't it?! But anyway, I thought that I might as well get straight to publishing this blog, now that the majority of the system has been implemented. And as with publishing this blog, there is an introduction to be made.

Introducing the new JS pages to maintain the intended design for this wiki. An optional system recently adopted by C.Syde's Wiki that brings together various CSS and JavaScript enhancements that are not allowed to be used site-wide. In other words, it is a collection of enhancements that are strongly recommended to be used by users on C.Syde's Wiki, so that they can benefit from the features that were intended for, but are no longer …

It's been nearly nine months since the last time I wrote a community blog. But in light of the amount of technical updates that have taken place since that time, I felt that it would be impractical not to make a blog to address these updates, how they serve as an improvement to this wiki, how they serve as an issue, and what I have suggested we do about them.

Wikia has updated the design for the forum activity, chat, blog post, and recent wiki activity modules. This wasn't a problem since it was just a matter of updating the CSS to override those undesirable changes. These modules can still be customised without violating Wikia's TOU, so yeah, those changes were almost completely reverted with CSS.

Now less than two days ago, Wikia updated t…

It's been a little while since I wrote a community blog, but here it is. The latest technical update blog. Two major changes that I believe need announcing. The former of the two has been around for a few days, while the latter of the two just took effect last night (my last night).

Recently, I asked Wikia Staff to enable the feature, so that myself and others can get the feel of using them. This is important, given that this feature will eventually be replacing the new forums not only on this wiki, but on all wikis that use the new forums instead of the old forums.

As with all wikis, at C.Syde's Wiki here, we unfortunately have no control over this transition from new forums to discussions. So in the mean time, it's best that we try to get…

It's been a long time since I wrote a community blog, but here it is. The latest technical update blog. Well it's not just a technical update blog. It's mostly an announcement blog. We have had two changes to C.Syde's Wiki in the last couple of days that I'd like to announce. The first change is that I have of the forum boards.

I have made the forum boards wider so that they fill up more space, so now instead of seeing blank pink space, we'll be seeing the forum boards instead. It always bugged me how the new forum boards and threads were always narrower than the old forums. Since the old forums used pages instead of threads, I have yet to see if it's possible to make the forum threads the same width as the old forum pages. Well, at leas…

This update has been on my wiki for a couple of days now, but it's time for me to announce this technical update that has been made to this wiki a few days ago. For quite some time, I have wanted to allow users to have the option to use talk pages inside the article namespace, instead of using the article comments feature.

This will be a huge benefit in some ways, since a few of the pages that I created that existed before I decided to enable article comments indefinitely, are not accustomed to having users use article comments on those pages, since they are well designed for talk page use. In-fact I don't even see it as being possible to have article comments replace talk pages for those particular pages, not without detrimental results. S…
